About the Traveling Gardener

I’m Yvonne Horn, a professional full-time travel writer and photographer.

While, yes, I travel the world to see fabulous cities and natural wonders, I also travel to wander gardens.

I search out gardens that could not exist in any other place than where they are. I look for gardens that reflect the gardener’s passion, gardens with historical tales to tell, gardens with a bit of wacky embedded in their beauty.

Why? Because I’m a gardener.

When I’m not traveling the world as an award-winning travel journalist, www.YvonneHorn.com I spend my free time pulling weeds and moving plants around in my own backyard in Northern California’s Sonoma County.

I understand gardens, and I dearly love them. This site, The Traveling Gardener,  gives me the  opportunity to share my finds with you after they’ve seen print as feature articles in magazines and newspapers.

With a click you’ll read about an Alice in Wonderland-like garden in Boquete, a garden dedicated to an ancient shipwreck in Stockholm, a poison garden in England -and many more.

Stay tuned – as I discover them, you’ll find them here.

The Traveling Gardener also allows me to share my love affair with Sonoma County, “the chosen place of all the earth as far as nature is concerned,” in the words of famed horticulturist Luther Burbank. To keep track of what I’m up to while not traveling, click on AT HOME on the banner bar.
